Aswan Dam

Aswan hydro is both an architectural creation and complex system of hydraulic engineering structures of Egypt. Aswan or Aswan hydroelectric dam was built in 1960 on the Nile River near its first threshold. 

The Aswan Dam was called "pyramid of the 20th century." On the construction of hydroelectric been used 43 million m ³ of earth materials, the number of which is 17 times higher than for building took for the pyramid of Cheops. The height of the Aswan dam 111 meters, and to top it narrows to 40 meters and serves as a four-lane highway. With its height can enjoy a beautiful view of the flood reservoir. Nearby also built 75-meter obelisk in the form of lotus petals. 

Aswan hydroelectric complex is located on the Nile River in the southern outskirts of Aswan. Go to the dam you can drive by catching a taxi. Along the river you can get on rented Felucca or a small motor boat.
