Coptic Museum

The capital of Egypt is Coptic Museum, which is a rich collection of Egyptian Christian artifacts. The museum focuses on the history, religion and culture of the Copts - a direct descendant of the Egyptians, who professed the Christian faith in Egypt. To date, the Copts make up about 10% of the population. 

 

Coptic Museum consists of two parts probation. First founded another founder of the museum smectic Pasha. The compilation of the second part of the artifacts in the museum were engaged his followers. In the Coptic museum contains household items, clothing, religious books, and much more, telling about the life of the Copts. 

 

Especially valuable is the collection of Coptic writing - about 6,000 manuscripts. The museum contains 13 sheets of papyrus "Gospel of Judas", as well as the world's only complete copy of the Psalms of David, dating from the 6th century. 

 

The Coptic Museum is located in Cairo. Go to the museum can be reached by subway, going to the station «Map Girgis», or to drive the bus to the stop «Old Cairo Polic».
