Mount Sinai
Mount Sinai, or as it is called the "Mountain of Moses" that's has long been a place of pilgrimage for Christians from around the world. According to the biblical record is on this mountain prophet Moses received from God the sacred tablets of the Ten Commandments.
At the top of Mount Sinai was built Christian church of the Holy Trinity, and a small mosque. In the rock in the mountains is a small cave, which according to legend was hiding Moses forty days and forty nights. In the northern part of the rock was hewn cave church of the Prophet Elijah, and he owns a well. Nearby is an Orthodox chapel of the Virgin and St. Catherine's Monastery. The height of the mountain is 2,285 m and the top of it are two trails. One is designed for pilgrims and is more difficult, and the other - for tourists. Most of the pilgrims ascend the mountain at night to meet her at dawn.
Mount Sinai is located on the Sinai Peninsula. From Cairo can be reached by bus or by car. At the very same mountain can be reached on foot or riding a camel.
